New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse kicks off its 75th Anniversary season with the world premiere of Honeymoon in Vegas tonight, September 26, 2013 with a run through October 17, 2013.
Tony Danza, perhaps known best for his roles in Who’s the Boss? and Taxi, leads the cast of the show as Tommy Korman. Additional credits include films such as Angels in the Outfield, Crash, and A Brooklyn State of Mind among others. Also, Danza has appeared on Broadway in the stage productions of The Producers, A View From the Bridge, and The Iceman Cometh.
Other actors in the show include Tony Award nominee Rob McClure as Jack Singer, Brynn O’Malley as Betsy Nolan, Tony Award nominee Nancy Opel as Bea Singer, Matthew Saldivar as Johnny Sandwich, and David Josefsberg as Tony Rocky/Roy Bacon.
Honeymoon in Vegas is based upon the 1992 Castle Rock Entertainment film of the same title. It tells the story of commitment weary man by the name of Jack Singer who finally pops the question to his girlfriend Betsy. The couple makes the move to Vegas to get married but run into trouble when wealthy gambler and recently widowed Tommy Korman falls for Betsy. Tommy then arranges for Jack to lose in a major poker game so he can claim the soon-to-be bride for himself.
The show is directed by Gary Griffin and features a book by the director and screenwriter of the film Andrew Bergman. Music and lyrics are contributed by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown and original choreography is provided by Denis Jones.
Honeymoon in Vegas will be performed eight times weekly, Wednesday through Sunday with an altered first week schedule. Performance Schedule is as follows: Wednesday at 7:30pm, Thursday at 1:30pm and 7:30pm, Friday at 8:00pm, Saturday at 1:30pm and 8:00pm and Sunday at 1:30pm and 7:00pm.
