Costa Mesa, make way for one of the longest-running hit musical comedies! 42nd Street, the acclaimed musical based on Bradford Rope’s novel and its subsequent film adaptation, joins the 2015-2016 season of Broadway Across America Orange County. Opening on November 10, 2015, 42nd Street has a limited two-week engagement at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts until November 22, 2015.
Peggy Sawyer, a young and starry-eyed actress wannabe heads to New York City to audition for a new Broadway production. When the lead star injures her ankle in an accident, Peggy finds herself taking over the lead role and becoming a star. A dance and song Broadway fable that has become the epitome of a classic backstage musical comedy, 42nd Street features some of the most celebrated songs ever written for stage like “We’re In The Money,” “Shuffle Off to Buffalo,” “You’re Getting to be a Habit With Me ,” “Dames,” “42nd Street,” and “I Only Have Eyes for You.” This exciting new production is helmed by the same team that staged the 2001 Tony-winning Best Musical Revival production.
Join Peggy as she pursues her American Dream when 42nd Street plays the Segerstrom Center for the Arts from Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30 PM, on Saturdays at 2 PM and 7:30 PM, and on Sundays at 1 PM and 6:30 PM. The performance time of 42nd Street is 2 hours and 40 minutes.
