A Gentlemans Guide to Love and Murder Minneapolis | State Theatre

A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, the hit and acclaimed new Broadway musical comedy that won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2014, makes it Minneapolis premiere as part of Bank of America Broadway on Hennepin’s 2015-2016 season. Opening on January 5, 2016, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder has an eight-performance run at the State Theatre until January 10, 2016.

Based on the novel Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal by Roy Horniman, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder is set in 1907 in London and tells the story of Monty Navarro, a poor clerk who discovers his lineage after her mother’s death. Upon learning that he is ninth in the line of succession to the Earldom of Highhurst of the D’Ysquith family, Monty sets off to be acquainted with his long-lost relatives. After the high-handed ruling Lord rudely dismisses Monty’s claim, the eight D’Ysquiths before Monty in the line of succession begin dying one by one.
