Broadway Week Features Newsies, Once, War Horse, Wicked

This year’s annual Broadway Week will take place September 4-16, and will feature two-for-one tickets to 19 Broadway shows, including “Newsies,” “Once,” “War Horse” and “Wicked.”

The event is produced by NYC & Company in association with the Broadway League. In addition to receiving the two-for-one tickets, each ticket stub can be used to obtain a free dessert at more than 25 participating restaurants in the Theatre District.

The discounted tickets are scheduled to go on sale August 20.

“The only thing better than seeing a Broadway show is the opportunity for two people to see a Broadway show for the price of one,” Charlotte St. Martin, executive director of The Broadway League, said in a statement. “Thanks to the vision of NYC & Company and their Restaurant Week franchise, the first few Broadway Weeks have proved so successful that we’re thrilled to be in a position to offer this exciting opportunity again to benefit even more theater fans this September.

George Fertitta, CEO of NYC & Company, also expressed his excitement about the upcoming event.

“Attending a Broadway show is a unique and iconic New York City experience and one of the reasons more than 50.5 million people visited the City last year,” he said in the statement announcing this year’s dates. “With Broadway Week two-for-one tickets to some of the City’s most popular shows, there is no better way to grow the number of Broadway enthusiasts and give fans a reason to fill our theaters and enjoy some of the world’s best entertainment.”

The other shows participating in the event are “Bring It On: The Musical,” “Chaplin,” “Chicago,” “An Enemy of the People,” “Evita,” “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess,” “Jersey Boys,” “The Lion King,” “Mamma Mia!” “Mary Poppins,” “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” “Peter and the Starcatcher,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Rock of Ages” and “Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark.”
