Diana DeGarmo, Ace Young Top Touring Cast of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’

Husband and wife duo Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo will lead the cast of the touring production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. It is set to begin March 4, 2014 at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, Ohio. The couple will play the roles of Joseph and The Narrator, respectively.

Young was quoted as saying, “I am so excited to star as Joseph alongside Diana.” DeGarmo also shared statements about her excitement to be in the show saying, “It’s great to be back! I too am so excited to star alongside Ace in the very role I once looked up to years ago as a child in the choir.” DeGarmo also shared in a separate interview, ” I have to say, the most amazing thing about doing [Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat] is that so many people have beautiful memories of the show and can really relate to it – they say, “Oh, I did it when I was in school!” or, “I saw the show on tour when I was young!” or “I grew up loving the video and the album,” or “Oh, my kids love that show!” or “I always take my parents to see that when it comes around.” Just so many people have connections with [Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat] so it is great to be a part of something that you don’t really have to sell to people at all – they already love it.”

Both Ace and Diana are very accomplished in their careers. Ace is a Grammy nominated songwriter who has numerous number 1 hits in the US and Sweden. He has performed worldwide and was a contestant on “Idol”. After his appearance there, he pursued a Broadway career and has starred in both Grease and HAIR. Diana was the first “Idol” alum to star on Broadway. In addition to HAIR, she has been in 9 to 5, Brooklyn: The Musical, Hairspray, and The Toxic Avenger.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the story of the biblical character Joseph, his brothers, and his multicolored coat. Producers refer to it as “… the irresistible family musical about the trials and triumphs of Joseph, Israel’s favorite son.”
