Gigi packs her bags to visit Washington DC before heading to Broadway! Gigi, the exciting revival of the Tony-winning romantic comedy musical inspired by Colette’s 1945 novella, is set to make its widely-anticipated world premiere at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ Eisenhower Theater. Opening on January 17, 2015, Gigi plays Washington DC until February 15.
Set in Belle Epoque Paris, Gigi retells the tale of a free-spirited teen groomed to become a high-class courtesan and playboy companion just like the rest of the women in her family. When she unexpectedly finds love in the arms of a wealthy playboy, they must prevail over their destinies to have a future together.
It’s a new musical production for the New Year as Gigi makes its pre-Broadway run at the Eisenhower Theater with weeknight performances (Tuesday to Friday) at 7:30 PM. The weekend performances (Saturday and Sunday) are at 1:30 PM and 7:30 PM, except on January 17-18 and February 15 with matinee performances only. A special matinee show is also scheduled on February 11 (Wednesday) at 1:30 PM.
