‘Gilmore Girl’ Alexis Bledel Joins Cast of Off-Broadway ‘Regrets’

Former Gilmore Girl Alexis Bledel has signed on to appear in the premiere of Matt Charman’s “Regrets” when it opens at New York City Center Stage on March 27. Previews will begin March 1.The play is a production of the Manhattan Theatre Club, and Bledel will appear alongside previously announced star Adriane Lenox.

“Regrets” focuses on Caleb Farley, who travels from Hollywood to the Nevada desert to a retreat owned by Mrs. Duke, who is played by Lenox, to get a quick divorce in 1950s America. The Manhattan Theatre Club describes the rest of the play as follows:

Caleb claims he fled his Hollywood home for the same reason as the other men in the camp – to shed the lives and wives they’ve known, and loved, to begin anew. But in an era of heightened fears and political distrust, accusations that Caleb is hiding more than just a broken heart test each man’s loyalty – to country and to one another. This fascinating new drama is an uncommon tale of friendship, loss and finding the courage of one’s convictions.

Though she is primarily known for her television and film work, Bledel has appeared Off-Broadway before as a cast member of “Love, Loss, and What I Wore.” In addition to “Gilmore Girls,” she also has appeared in the films “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” “Sin-City,” “Post-Grad,” “The Conspirator” and “Tuck Everlasting.”

Chrissie Myers will direct the production, and other stars include Curt Bouril, known for his work on the HBO hit “Boardwalk Empire,” Brian Hutchison, Lucas Caleb Rooney and Richard Topol.

Charman is a young British playwright, and “Regrets” will be his New York debut. He won a Verity Bargate Award for new writers for his first play “A Night at the Dogs,” which played at Soho Theatre in London. He also previously was Pearson Writer in Residence at the National Theatre.
