Winter in Jacksonville shapes up to be a scorching one as the Broadway smash hit about four young men from New Jersey who became the biggest music innovators and pop chart toppers of their time are swinging by Jacksonville, FL for a one-week run at the Moran Theatre Times Union Center. This is ‘Jersey Boys’, the life and times of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, playing at Jax from February 14 thru 19, 2017.
Iconic pop hits of the ‘60s such as ‘Walk Like a Man’, ‘Can’t Take My Eyes off You’, ‘Sheree’, ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’, ‘Rag Doll’ and ‘Oh, What a Night’ were all written and popularized by Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Nick Massi and Tommy DeVito, collectively known as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Once just blue collar workers in the Garden State, their innate musical ingenuity and knack for penning swingy and sweet pop hits brought them fame and fortune before they were even thirty. But money, success and popularity came at a price, and their journey to stardom wasn’t a stroll in the park either. These guys had to work hard at everything and this musical will chronicle all that they went through – the drama, the internal conflicts, the creative differences, money issues – to be one of pop music’s greatest treasures and legends.
