Kate Rockwell, Teresa Stanley Added to Broadway’s ‘Rock of Ages’ Cast

Kate Rockwell and Teresa Stanley will join the cast of “Rock of Ages” late next month.

Both will make their debut with the Broadway production of the musical January 21, 2013 at the Helen Hayes Theatre with Rockwell taking over the roll of Sherrie and Stanley filling the role of Justice, the owner of the Venus Club on the Sunset Strip. The two will replace Ashley Spencer (Sherrie) and Michele Mais (Justice), both of whom will play their final performances January 20.

Here’s how the show’s official website describes the musical:

Set in LA’s infamous Sunset Strip in 1987, “Rock of Ages” tells the story of Drew, a boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, a small-town girl, both in LA to chase their dreams of making it big and falling in love. “Rock of Ages takes you back to the times of big bands with big egos playing big guitar solos and sporting even bigger hair!

The musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, and features hit songs including “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “We Built This City,” “The Final Countdown,” “Wanted Dead or Alive,” “Here I Go Again,” “Can’t Fight This Feeling” and “I Want to Know What Love Is.”

Rockwell currently is on Broadway starring as Skylar in “Bring It On: The Musical,” and she made her Broadway debut in “Legally Blonde” back in 2009. Before that she was a finalist in NBC’s “Grease: You’re The One That I Want.”

Stanley previously performed the role of Justice in the first national tour of “Rock of Ages,” and made her Broadway debut in “The Color Purple.” She also performed in the 30th anniversary tour of “Ain’t Misbehavin’.”

“Rock of Ages” is directed by Kristin Hanggi with choreography by Kelly Devine. It is written by Chris D’Arienzo. Other current cast members of the production include Justin Matthew Sargent, Genson Blimline and Joey Calveri.
