Matthew Morrison Longs to be Back on Broadway

Staring in a hugely successful television show has afforded Mr. Schue, er…Matthew Morrison a lot of opportunities. In addition to wrapping his second season on ‘Glee,’ Morrison is currently promoting his self-titled album which includes duets with none other than Elton John and Gwyneth Paltrow. He’s heading out on tour with Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block to promote the effort. But even after all that success, his heart still beats closest to the stage.

In an interview with UK’s The Mirror, when Morrison was asked if he’d be staying on with ‘Glee’ forever, he stated, “I don’t think anyone wants to be in a role forever. Although Glee is amazing, I have so much in the tank that is just hungry to go. That’s why I wanted to do the album and go on tour. It’s my chance to be in front of a live audience. I’ll probably do another couple of seasons of Glee, but I really want to get back on stage in the theatre.”

Morrison’s theatre credits include ‘South Pacific,’ ‘Footloose’ and ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show.’ People really stood up and took notice when he did a two-year stint in John Waters original production of ‘Hairspray,’ playing the character Link Larkin. He was also nominated for a Tony for his work in the 2005 production ‘The Light of the Piazza.’

For those who can’t get enough of the curly haired teacher, he’ll also be playing opposite Cameron Diaz in the upcoming film ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting.’ Morrison will be Cameron’s baby daddy.
