The cast of the Million Dollar Quartet’s National Tour has been announced and will star James Berry, Tyler Hunter, Scott Moreau, and John Countryman in the lead roles.
Million Dollar Quartet captures the iconic moment that legendary greats Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins are brought together (December 4, 1956). Called “The Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll”, Sam Phillips (credited which launching each man’s career), gathers the men together at Sun Records storefront studio in Memphis for a single time which results in an epic rock ‘n’ roll session revered be many as one of the greatest of all times.
The legendary roles will be played by James Berry as Carl Perkins, Tyler Hunter as Elvis Presley, Scott Moreau as Johnny Cash, and John Countryman as Jerry Lee Lewis. Vince Nappo will play the role of Sam Phillips in the show.
The Tony Award winning musical features timeless hits including “I Walk the Line”, “Blue Suede Shoes”, That’s All Right”, “See Ya Later, Alligator”, “Fever” and ” Hound Dog” among several other favorites.
The Broadway production of the show originally opened in April of 2010 and ran at New World Stages through June 2012. It received a host of accolades and praise from audiences and show critics. The New York Magazine called the show “a dazzling raucous spectacle that sounds like a million bucks,” while The New York Times referred to it as “a buoyant new musical that whips the crowd into a frenzy and NY1 called it, “90 minutes of platinum grade entertainment.” The show ran at New World Stages through June 2012.
The production is directed by Eric Schaeffer. Other show contributions include a book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux, costume design by Jane Greenwood, sound design by Kai Harada, lighting design by Howell Binkley, and scenic design by Derek McLane.
The tour is set to make more than 75 stops over the next year.
