Off-Broadway’s ‘Fuerza Bruta’ Set to Close January 5

The Off-Broadway hit Fuerza Bruta NYC is set to end its five year run at the Daryl Roth Theatre January 5, 2014 according to reports from S2BN Entertainment. The show’s closing will mark more than 2000 performances since its debut.

Executive producer for the show Stephen Shaw said in a statement, “It’s been an amazing five-year run in New York and we look forward to the remaining months to celebrate this spectacular theatrical experience as New Yorkers and tourists alike get a final chance to jump into the exciting world at Fuerza Bruta.”

Fuerza Bruta has been described by audiences and critics as a non-stop collision of visceral emotion and kinetic aerial imagery set to dynamic music. The New York Daily News called the production “a sexy, heart-pounding fantasy,” saying “Not many shows can boast that they deliver something you’ve never seen before. This one does.” Access Hollywood described the show as, “the ridiculously fast-paced, acrobatic-filled play that’s taken Union Square and all of New York City by storm.” It has boasted celebrity audience members as well including Steven Tyler, Beyoncé Knowles, Leonardo DiCaprio, Shakira, John Legend, Orlando Bloom, and Ryan Gosling among others.

The production was created by Argentinean artistic director Diqui James and is produced by S2BN Entertainment. It originally premiered in Buenos Aires in 2005 and ran in several major cities to include Lisbon, London, and Bogata prior to landing in New York City. It began previews October 11, 2007 at the Daryl Roth Theatre and debuted October 24, 2007.

The show has also had success touring worldwide. At the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, it earned praise and was honored with the Bank of Scotland Herald Angel Award for The Biggest and Best Show on the Fringe. It has also seen successful tours in cities such as Cordoba, Sao Paulo, Rosario, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Queretaro, Antwerp, Bilbao, Knokke Heist, Madrid, Berlin, Tel Aviv and many others. In February 2012, the show kicked off its Asian tour in Manila with plans to spend the entire year playing the major East Asian cities.
