Porgy and Bess, the acclaimed Broadway classic that won the Tony Award in the Best Revival of a Musical category in 2012, is coming to Charlotte as part of the blockbuster Duke Energy 2013 – 2014 Broadway Lights Series. Opening on July 15, Porgy and Bess plays the Belk Theater of the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center until July 20, 2014.
With one of the most accomplished and awarded teams on the Great White Way, this classic masterpiece of Ira and George Gershwin comes to new and magnificent life after over 35 years. Retelling one of the most exhilarating and most beloved love stories in theater, Porgy and Bess features an outstanding musical score that include legendary songs like Summertime and I Got Plenty of Nothing.
Don’t miss Porgy and Bess as it plays at the Belk Theater at 7:30 PM on July 15 to 17 (Tuesday to Thursday), at 8 PM on July 18 (Friday), at 2 PM and 8 PM on July 19 (Saturday), and at 1:30 PM and 7 PM on July 20 (Sunday).
