The Color Purple rolls into the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami this winter. The Tony Award winning production will be keeping minds and hearts busy from February 27th till March 4th, 2018.
A John Doyle directed work whose story is based on the Alice Walker’s 1982 groundbreaking novel, The Color Purple shows us the true meaning of courage. This inspiring plot, set in the American South, follows a young black American woman, Celie, who suffers emotional and sexual abuse from her own father and later endures the same fate at the hands of her husband. When she makes new friends and her life is opened by eye opening events, the value of her self-worth blossoms as she finds the courage to leave her husband to start her own life.
The Color Purple is an absolute “glory to behold” (The New York Times) and Miami should miss out of this exciting spectacle.
