The Lion King Nashville | Andrew Jackson Hall

The Lion King Nashville | Andrew Jackson Hall

You are invited to take a journey deep into the heart of Africa as The Lion King comes to the Tennesse Performing Arts Center. The music of Sir Elton John and Tim Rice from the animated Disney movie take on African beats and rhythms in this spectacular adaptation which will play at the Andrew Jackson Hall from May 7 through June 2, 2013.

Julie Taymor’s costumes and puppets make no effort to make the actors realistically resemble any of the wild African animals they are portraying. Yet, the musical adaptation of Disney’s The Lion King takes on such fantastic images, sounds, and stagecraft that it becomes easy to be transported to the African savannah, where all the animals gather together to meet their new King for the first time, or get caught in the middle of a stampede which tragically kills Mufasa and alters the course of young Simba’s life forever. Join Simba as he searches for the truth within himself — that he is indeed the rightful king of the Pride Lands.

Evening performances for The Lion King will begin at 7:30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and at 8:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays. All Sunday shows will start at 6:30pm. Matinee performances will be held at 2:00pm on Saturdays and at 1:00pm on Sundays from May 7 to June 2, 2013. The performance running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes with 1 intermission.
