The Lion King New Orleans | Saenger Theater

The Lion King New Orleans | Saenger Theater

Celebrate the circle of life and feast your eyes with the vivid African savannah that is sure to liven the stage in this Julie Taymor directed Broadway masterpiece, ‘The Lion King’. This Tony Award winning musical adaptation of the Academy Award winning Disney film is coming to New Orleans this spring for a month-long engagement at the Saenger Theater, from January 4 through 29, 2017.

‘The Lion King’ is an extravagant theatrical phenomenon that defies the boundaries of musical theater. “A landmark event in entertainment,” as Newsweek calls it, this production will have you hanging onto the edge of your seats in astonishment and exhilaration as the vast and majestic Pridelands emerge vividly onstage, transporting the audiences to a prairie richly filled with colorful, lifelike characters and creatures clad in scene-stealing costumes as brilliantly conceptualized by Tony Award winner Julie Taymor. Accompanying the stunning visuals are Elton John and Time Rice’s grand, rhythmic and soulful scores and tunes. The musical is the ideal combination of visual genius, storytelling mastery and musical perfection, and to say that “there is simply nothing else like it” (The New York Times) is like saying not one superlative in the English vocabulary will suffice to completely describe this exceptional Broadway spectacle.

The performance running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes with 1 intermission.
