The Sound of Music Detroit | FisherTheatre

The hills of Detroit are alive with music this spring! The Sound of Music, the award winning and hit musical with Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein’s legendary and acclaimed musical score, closes the blockbuster 2015-16 season of Broadway in Detroit. Opening on May 10, 2016, The Sound of Music takes over the Fisher Theatre for two weeks until May 22, 2016.

Inspired by “The Trapp Family Singers,” Maria Augusta Trapp’s memoir, The Sound of Music takes its Detroit audience to relive the unforgettable tale of Maria and the Trapp family. While training to be a nun in a monastery, Maria is assigned to be the stubborn Trapp children’s new governess. Soon, she wins the hearts of the children and their strict father, Captain George Von Trapp. A romantic and spirited musical, The Sound of Music is all set to enchant with its beloved romantic tale and spirited songs like “My Favorite Things,” “Edelweiss,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” and, of course, the title song.

Join the Trapp family and Maria as The Sound of Music plays the Fisher Theatre on Tuesday to Friday at 8:00 PM, on Saturday at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM, and on Sunday at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM. The running time of The Sound of Music is 174 minutes.
