Maria and the Von Trapp family are on their way to Orlando! The Sound of Music, the new production of a beloved theater classic, opens the new year for Fairwinds Credit Union Broadway Across America – Orlando’s stellar 2015-2016 season. Opening on January 5, 2016, The Sound of Music conquers the stage of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts until January 10, 2016.
Loosely based on Maria Von Trapp’s memoir, The Sound of Music is the spirited musical tale of Maria and the Von Trapps. With book by Russel Crouse and Howard Lindsay, The Sound of Music features musical score by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein and direction by Jack O’Brien. The musical’s film version currently celebrates its 50th anniversary and remains the most successful movie musical of all time. This January, rediscover and be thrilled once again by its award-winning score that include legendary songs like “The Sound of Music,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Edelweiss,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” and “My Favorite Things.”
Don’t miss The Sound of Music as it plays the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts at 8 PM on January 5 to 8 (Tuesday to Friday), at 2 PM and 8 PM on January 9 (Saturday), and at 1 PM and 6:30 PM on January 10 (Sunday). The performance time of The Sound of Music is 174 minutes.
