Wicked Atlanta | Fox Theatre

Wicked Atlanta | Fox Theatre

Critically acclaimed Broadway hit Wicked heads to Atlanta this winter, from February 18 to March 8, 2015 at the Fox Theatre as part of its national tour.

Long before Dorothy came to Oz to wage war on the Wicked Witch, the girl in green had her own story to tell. A story which involved another witch, former friend and now rival Glinda the Good Witch, a prince in between them and a whole lot of characters that made Wicked a hit among theatre lovers and critics alike. Get a glimpse of how things were in Oz before Dorothy came onto the scene and learn how Elphaba, the emerald skinned girl with a gifted mind came to be the Wicked Witch of the West.

The performance running time of Wicked is 2 hours and 45 minutes with 1 intermission.

The Performance was Wicked alright!

When is a Broadway Tour play similar to a High School event? When the role of the main character is played by someone that isn't even listed as the understudy in the Program. There were four inserts in the program to cover primary characters that were played by the seconds, or thirds. Elphaba, Doctor Dillamond and The Wonderful Wizard of OZ, were all played by understudy's, and the girl that played Elphaba was not even the primary understudy listed. Where did she come from? Yikes!!! This is pretty bad when you consider that each of our tickets were $153.00 before the added charges.

On top of that, throw in that the Management of the Fox Theatre decided at intermission to move over the main men's room for the use of women, and the ensuing disastrous intermission where a hundred men could not get back to their seat before the play resumed, and this was an event where I wish I had my money returned. As they say fool me once, it is on you, and the Fox Management and Production Company own this disaster of a day. I am thinking that I will not be fooled again!

“While the first notes of any musical’s overture are exciting, there’s a noticeable difference in an audience’s energy at Wicked. When the orchestra begins, the Time Dragon Clock comes to life and the flying monkeys take the stage. Moments later, the monkeys pull back the map of Oz and transport the audience into the story of two of the most familiar witches in literary and cinema history.” – A. Wesley of Atlanta Theater Fans

Needless to say, ‘Wicked’ didn’t disappoint. It may have garnered a mixed bag of reviews from the New York press on its original debut, but the world wide theatre audience has thrown these doubters under the bus. People love ‘Wicked’ and for good reason. – Mark Runyon of Broadway Tour
