Wicked Charlotte | Ovens Auditorium

Wicked Charlotte | Ovens Auditorium

Find out how a peculiar green girl named Elphaba went from being the daughter of the governor of Munchkinland into the most hated woman in Oz as Wicked Witch of the West in Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz. This spectacular hit Broadway musical makes it way to Charlotte only at the Ovens Auditorium from January 6 to 31, 2016 presented by the Blumenthal Performing Arts.

“Are people born wicked, or is wickedness thrust upon them?” That is the question Glinda the Good poses to her fellow Ozians as they proudly proclaim when the curtain rises, “The Wicked Witch is dead!” But nothing is as it seems in Oz and the lines between good and bad are blurred. Wicked is the story of the friendship between Elphaba and Glinda and how they became the most powerful witches in the land.

Evening performances of Wicked at the Ovens Auditorum will be at 7:30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. 8:00pm performances will be on Fridays and Saturdays, while Sunday evening shows begin at 7:00pm. Matinee shows are scheduled on March 14, 16, 23, and 30 at 2:00pm, while 1:30pm performances are slated on Sundays on March 17, 24, and 31. The performance running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes with 1 intermission.

Charlotte Press Reviews
“Having seen that the musical doesn’t scrupulously follow Maguire’s novel, my wife Sue actually enjoyed Wicked better the second time around. So here’s the drill: forget the book and forget the Yellow Brick Road as best you can. Then you’ll be fine at Ovens.”
– Perry Tannenbaum of Creative Loafing Charlotte
