Wicked Denver | Buell Theatre

Wicked Denver | Buell Theatre

What better way to spend summer in Denver that with the untold story of the witches of Oz. This is the Tony Award winning and highly raved prequel to the L. Frank Baum classic, The Wizard of Oz. Wicked the Musical flies into Denver from June 3 to July 5, 2015 at the Buell Theatre.

Ever wondered what happened in Oz before nosy Dorothy jumped off the tornado from Kansas? Long before that, there were two would-be witches who lived in Munchkinland; Elphaba, the outspoken and often misunderstood girl with skin as green as emerald who would eventually become the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the ambitious, popular blonde who would eventually become the Good Witch of the North. USA Today calls this musical “the most complete and completely satisfying new musical in a long time”, while Entertainment Weekly hails Wicked as “the best musical of the decade”. In addition, this three-time Tony Award and Grammy winning smash hit is such a groundbreaking theatrical masterpiece, The New York Times raves it as “the defining musical of the decade”.

Show times for Wicked are at 7:30 PM from Tuesdays to Sundays. Matinee performances are at 2 PM on weekends with a special matinee on April 12, Thursday at 2 PM. The performance running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes with 1 intermission.

“It is a wry reconsideration of good (is it overrated?) and evil (is it misunderstood?) — or at least L. Frank Baum’s version of that eternal tussle found in his classic novel “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.” – Lisa Kennedy of The Denver Post

“Because if you look past the glitzy veneer, if you set aside the hype that has helped make it the No. 1 show on Broadway for nine years running, you’ll see it for what it really is. A smart, sassy satire of recent American history.” – Todd Wallinger of Colorado Springs Independent
