‘Wicked,’ ‘Newsies,’ ‘Jersey Boys’ Discount Tickets for Fall Broadway Week

A host of Broadway favorites will be available for viewing at discounted prices for Fall Broadway Week 2013. New York City’s official marketing, tourism, and partnership organization (NYC and Company) recently made the official announcement setting the show dates for September 2 -15.

NYC and Company is responsible for maximizing travel and tourism opportunities within the city, thereby building capital for the city and adding to the creation of a positive image of the city.

Broadway Week is a biannual event that occurs once in the Winter and once in the Fall, allowing audiences to get tickets at great discount rates. The fall promotion is a two for one deal which will allow audiences with a love for the theatre, but a conservative budget to get a big bang for their buck.

George Fertitta, CEO of NYC and Company, was quoted in a statement as saying, “Nothing says New York City like Broadway.”

Since the concept of Broadway Week was first implemented in Winter 2011, more than 300,000 tickets have been sold which generated more than $20 million in revenue. The Executive Director of The Broadway League Charlotte St. Martin stated, ““Broadway contributes over $11 billion to the economy of New York City on top of ticket sales and supports 86,000 local jobs. NYC & Company’s innovative two-for-one programs benefit the City, the industry and, of course, the consumer…Broadway Week has become a much anticipated fall tradition for everyone.”

A total of 20 shows will participate in this year’s Fall Broadway Week. Show titles include favorites such as Wicked, Newsies, and Jersey Boys. Other popular shows included in the promotion are Annie, Chicago, Mamma Mia!, The Lion King, Rock of Ages, and Phantom of the Opera.

Production of Broadway Week is handled by NYC & Company in partnership with The Broadway League, American Express, AARP, Amtrak and NBC 4 New York.

Pre-sale tickets for shows were available August 16 – 19, while tickets for the general public were released August 19.
