Wicked Sacramento | Community Center Theater

Wicked Sacramento | Community Center Theater

Flying monkeys with wings have been spotted in the skies over the Community Center Theatre, which can only mean one thing – Wicked The Musical is coming to Sacramento!

Most of us grew up knowing the story originally penned by Frank L. Baum where Dorothy Gale of Kansas crashes into Munchinland and follows the Yellow Brink Road through the land of Oz to meet the Great and Powerful Wizard in the Emerald City who is said to have the power to send her back home. But what we never saw was the other side of the story, of how the two greatest witches in the land came to be known as the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda the Good. Based on the book by Gregory Maguire, Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz fills in the blanks and shows us another side of Oz that we never imagined before.

Wicked comes to The Sacramento Community Center Theatre from May 28 through June 15, 2014 as part of Broadway Sacramento’s new season sponsored by Wells Fargo. Performance schedules and ticket sale information will be available once individual tickets become available.

“This show is a carefully crafted mix of special effects, iconic visual quotations, and smooth soft rock anthems, drenched in stage fog. It trades on novelty and pop culture recognition more than anything.”— Jeff Hudson of Capital Public Radio

“While the set, costumes and script remain unchanged from the “Wicked’s” four-week run in 2012, new actors have been brought in, including three alumni from Sacramento’s own Music Circus – the summer series for which CMT auditions more than 5,000 professional actors from all over the country.” – Sammy Caiola of The Sacramento Bee
