Wicked San Antonio | Majestic Theatre

Wicked San Antonio | Majestic Theatre

Wicked, one of this season’s most popular shows on Broadway, is coming to San Antonio for its three-week engagement at The Majestic Theatre on March 12 to 30, 2014. Wicked is a Season Special of the Cadillac Broadway in San Antonio series for 2013-2014.

Years before the strong winds took Dorothy to the Land of Oz, Elphaba and Glinda met and became unlikely friends. Little did they know that one day they would fight from two opposing sides. Elphaba, the green-skinned smart girl, becomes The Wicked Witch of the West while Glinda, the beautiful and popular one, becomes the Good Witch of the North. Taking home 35 major awards, Wicked has been hailed by The New York Times as this decade’s defining musical and biggest blockbuster on Broadway.

Experience the magic of Wicked as it plays in San Antonio at 7:30 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, at 8 PM on Fridays and Saturdays and at 6:30 PM on Sundays, with a special matinee show at 2 PM on March 13 (Thursday). The regular matinee performances are at 2 PM on Saturdays and at 1 PM on Sundays.

“Though I had already seen Wicked in Chicago, I was still surprised by the bustle and brilliance of Eugene Lee’s spectacular set: a darkly whimsical take on both the fantasy world of Oz and the industrial age that it reflects.” – Artifacts of San Antonio Current

“Part of the fun of the show is its exploration of some story threads in “The Wizard of Oz.” How did the monkeys acquire wings? Where did the tornado that sent Dorothy and Toto plummeting into Oz come from? And why on earth did the Wicked Witch of the West get so insanely upset over the loss of her sister’s ruby slippers to a “wretched little farm girl”? It’s all explained.” – Deborah Martin of mySA

“Delve into this vivacious land where questions of morality, rivalries, and love triangles riddle the stage. In “Wicked,” munchkins’ rights are taken away and animals are tortured and forbidden to talk.” – Kevin Tobar Pesantez of Rivard Report
