The best of Motown music will resound all over Seattle! Motown The Musical, the record-breaking hit that has been taking the theatre world by storm, will be part of the Keybank Broadway at The Paramount’s exciting 2015/2016 season. Opening on May 31, 2016, Motown The Musical will be at The Paramount Theatre for two weeks until June 12, 2016.
This is the evolution of Gordy’s Motown family and their legacy as a catalyst for change when their songs pushed African-American music across the color barrier, which helped shatter the social and racial barriers, in a segregated society. Based on “To Be Loved: the Music, the Magic, the Memories of Motown,” the 1994 autobiography of Motown founder Berry Gordy, Motown The Musical tells not only Gordy’s life story but also of his Motown family and of the unforgettable songs that changed America. Gordy and his label discovered and launched the stellar careers of several artists including Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Michael Jackson. Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, Motown The Musical features over 50 timeless Motown hits that are sure to take its Seattle audience to a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
Don’t miss Motown The Musical as it plays The Paramount Theatre at 7:30 PM from Tuesdays through Thursdays, at 8 PM on Fridays, at 2 PM and 8 PM on Saturdays, and at 1 PM and 6:30 PM on Sundays. Motown The Musical runs for 2 hours and 40 minutes with one 15-minute intermission.
