Spring in Jacksonville comes alive with the greatest Motown classics! Motown The Musical, the phenomenal musical production from the Great White Way, joins the FSCJ Artist Series Broadway in Jacksonville’s stellar line up of shows for its 2015-2016 season. Opening on April 19, 2016, Motown The Musical conquers the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts’ Moran Theater until April 24, 2016.
Inspired by the autobiography of the man behind Motown, Berry Gordy, Motown The Musical chronicles Gordy’s story from his brief featherweight boxing stint to becoming the recording tycoon behind the successful career launch of many legendary singers like Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, and Diana Ross. Not only one man’s story, Motown The Musical is also the story of the artists and the music that torn down color barriers and forever changed racially divided America. Featuring more than 50 of the greatest Motown hits, Motown The Musical is one show that is sure to take Jacksonville theatergoers on an unforgettable joy ride down memory lane.
Experience the captivating story behind the unforgettable music as Motown The Musical plays the Moran Theater on April 19 and 20 (Tuesday and Wednesday) at 7:30 PM, on April 21 (Thursday) at 1:30 PM and 7:30 PM, on April 22 (Friday) at 8 PM, on April 23 (Saturday) at 2 PM and 8 PM, and on April 24 (Sunday) at 1:30 PM. Motown The Musical runs for 160 minutes.
