A poignantly unforgettable love story blossoms in Pittsburgh this spring! The Bridges of Madison County, the acclaimed Broadway musical that gives life to Robert James Waller’s heart-wrenching novel on theater stage, is part of PNC Broadway Across America – Pittsburgh’s blockbuster 2015-2016 season. Opening on March 8, 2016, The Bridges of Madison County has a limited engagement at the Benedum Center for eight shows only until March 13, 2016.
Widely considered as one of the most unforgettably romantic tales ever written, The Bridges of Madison County first captivated the nation as Waller’s best-selling novel, which inspired the sensational movie version starring Meryl Streep. Now, the story of Francesca and Robert is given life on stage with one of the most beautiful musical scores ever written for theater. In The Bridges of Madison County, the chance encounter of a traveling photographer and an ordinary farm wife offers them a second chance at happiness, love, and so much more. With direction by Bartlett Sher, The Bridges of Madison County features Jason Robert Brown’s Tony Award winning original score and orchestration.
