Portraying the voice of a generation, Beautiful – The Carole King Musical recreates the life and career of pop legend Carole King, as she becomes one of the 20th Century’s best-selling singer-songwriters.
Beautiful – The Carole King Musical is all about emotion and talent. An amazing combination of great music and inspiring outcomes, Beautiful follows the life and career of young Carole Klein, a Brooklyn teenager with a dream of writing pop songs. When she meets her husband and songwriting partner Gerry Goffin, King becomes one of the top acts in pop music history, writing hit songs for artists such as The Monkees, The Shirelles, Little Eva and Aretha Franklin. Along the way King forms a lasting relationship with Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, another composing duo with whom she creates classic hits like: You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling and Here You Come Again. As her personal life begins to fall apart, King rediscovers her true voice, releasing her first solo project and one of the best-selling albums of all times – Tapestry in 1971.
The creative team for Beautiful – The Carole King Musical is composed by director Marc Bruni, Tony Award nominee screenwriter Douglas McGrath and choreographer Josh Prince. The score features timeless tracks such as: So Far Away, It Might As Well Rain Until September, Take Good Care of my Baby, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling, Locomotion, You’ve Got A Friend and Beautiful.
After 25 albums and 4 Grammy Awards, Carole King truly represents “the real, conflicted person within the reluctant star” (New York Times).
Beautiful – The Carole King Musical comes to the Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis, MN from November 18 to November 29, as part of the national tour.
