From a shy teenager to one of pop music’s greatest singer-songwriters, Beautiful – The Carole King Musical tells the story of the legendary Carole King, as she portrays her inspiring and sometimes troubled life on stage.
Beautiful – The Carole King Musical begins right before young Brooklyn native, Carole Klein, composes her first hit: Will You Love Me Tomorrow, at the early age of 17. In the years that follow, she quickly emerges into a flourishing career and personal accomplishments when she meets her future husband and songwriting partner, Gerry Goffin. Carole also forms a lasting friendship with another composing couple, Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, along the way. But as with all good things King’s personal life begins to fall apart, and it is during this time that she reveals her true talent, by releasing Tapestry, one of the best selling albums of all time.
The creative team for Beautiful is composed by director Marc Bruni along with Tony Award nominee screenwriter Douglas McGrath, who wrote the book. The famous duo King/Goffin, along with composing couple Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann ensure the musical score, showcasing classic hits such as: You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling, Take Good Care of my Baby, You’ve Got a Friend, So Far Away, He’s Sure The Boy I Love and Locomotion.
Beautiful – The Carole King Musical has been one of the most captivating Broadway stories since its first debut on stage in January 2014. From loving wife and mother to international superstar, Carole King is truly “the real, conflicted person within the reluctant star” (New York Times).
Beautiful – The Carole King Musical is coming to Pittsburgh at the Benedum Center for The Performing Arts, from October 27 to November 1st, 2015.
