The movie that sparked a dancing craze in the 80’s and had peopel falling in love in Jeniffer Beal is finally on stage in Flashdance The Musical. Iconic moments from the film are brought to life, including the audition scene in the black leg warmers, and the infamous chair waterfall dance. Catch Flashdance at the Cob Great Hall of the Wharton Center for Performing Arts in East Lansing this October before the production heads off to Broadway.

Stars aren’t exactly made in Pittsburgh. But 18 year old steel mill worker, Alex Owen, longed to become a professional performer and get out of her night job as a pole dancer in a bar. Her big break comes when the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy hold auditions and together with her friends and a budding romance with her boss, Alex’s dreams are finally within her grasp.

East Lansing is in for a treat when Flashdance The Musical plays at the Cobb Great Hall at the Michigan State University Wharton Center for Performing Arts. Be one of the first to see the musical before it’s big Broadway debut in 2014. Performances will run from October 8 through 13, 2013. Evening shows will start at 7:30 from Tuesday through Thursday, at 8:00pm on Friday and Saturday, and at 6:30pm for the final performance on Sunday. Afternoon matinees will begin at 2:00pm on Saturday, and at 1:00pm on Sunday.
