Les Miserables Columbus | Ohio Theatre

Cameron Mackintosh’s highly acclaimed reboot of ‘Les Miserables’ returns to Columbus, OH next summer for a week-long repeat at the Ohio Theatre from May 14 to 19, 2013.

A juxtaposition of the old and the new, the revered classic and the welcome reinvention, this new version of ‘Les Miserables’ is the best of both worlds and is geared to please both the seasoned fanatic and the musical newbie. Breathing a new life to the compelling and powerful struggles of Jean Valjean and the heartwarming bond between him and Cosette are the fresh cast, the innovative, thoughtful and visually profound scenic designs which feature not the trademark revolving stage, but rather, moving visual projections of Victor Hugo’s paintings, and more impactful and aurally infectious orchestrations that amplify the musical’s emotions and motivations and furthers its purpose to greater heights, which is to celebrate the tenacity, success and the ability of the human spirit to reinvent and rediscover themselves amidst the glooming shadow of their pasts and the bleakness of the future.

‘Les Miserables’ will play the Ohio Theatre at 8 PM from May 14 to 18 and 6:30 PM on May 19. Matinee performances are at 2 PM on the 18th and 1 PM on the 19th. The performance running time is 2 hours 50 minutes with 1 intermission.
