A trip down memory lane is in store for Boston theatergoers at the onset of 2015! It’s all about nostalgia as Motown The Musical opens the New Year for The Lexus Broadway in Boston’s 2014/2015 season. Opening on January 27, 2015, Motown The Musical will fill the Boston Opera House with unforgettable music until February 15, 2015.
In the midst of the social and cultural upheavals in America, a featherweight boxer turned heavyweight music mogul makes his mark in history as the founder of the Motown label that launched the careers of Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, and many more. Based on the best-selling autobiography of Berry Gordy, Motown The Musical takes its audience to the behind-the-scene stories of the Motown family and to the triumph of the music that made racially-segregated America move to the same beat. A record-breaking hit, Motown The Musical is not just one man’s story but a celebration of and tribute to the music broke down racial barriers and helped in shaping American way of life.
Relive some of the best years in American music history as Motown The Musical takes center stage at the Boston Opera House from Tuesdays through Thursdays at 7:30 PM, on Fridays at 8 PM, on Saturdays at 2 PM and 8 PM, and on Sundays at 1 PM and 6:30 PM, with a special 1 PM matinee on January 28 (Thursday). The running time of Motown The Musical is 2 hours and 40 minutes with one 15-minute intermission.
