Direct from the Great White Way comes the crowd-pleasing and smash hit new Disney musical! Newsies, Tony winner for Best Choreography and Best Score for 2012, is the post-New Year offering of Columbus’ 2014-2015 Broadway season. Opening on January 13, 2015, Newsies will be at the Ohio Theatre for a limited eight-performance run until January 18, 2015.
The newsies just delivered the dailies but they became the headlines! Based on the hit 1992 movie that was inspired by the historical 1899 Newsboys Strike in New York, Newsies puts a ragged band of brave newspaper delivery boys who dared to stand up to the publishing big wigs of the Big Apple. A breathtaking explosion of dance and song that overflows with heart-pounding numbers, Newsies is directed by Jeff Calhoun. From the Disney Theatrical Productions, Newsies also features book by Harvey Fierstein, musical score by Jack Feldman and Alan Menken, and choreography by Christopher Gattelli.
Join the newsboys’ righteous fight as Newsies plays the Ohio Theatre on January 13 to 15 (Tuesday to Thursday) at 7:30 PM, on January 16 (Friday) at 8 PM, on January 17 (Saturday) at 2 PM and 8 PM, and on January 18 (Sunday) at 1 PM and 6:30 PM. With a 15-minute intermission, each Newsies performance lasts for 2 hours and 20 minutes.
