Newsboys take the center stage in San Jose this May! Newsies, Disney’s smash hit and acclaimed musical that took the Best Choreography and Best Score trophies of the Tony Awards in 2012, will be in town for the 2015-2016 season of Broadway San Jose. Opening on May 10, 2016, Newsies has an eight-show engagement at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts until May 15, 2016.
The newsboys of New York only delivered the papers before they made it to the headlines. Inspired by the two-week strike of newsboys in New York City led by Kid Blink in 1899, Newsies is the crowd-pleasing musical that explodes on stage with its spirited dance and song. In Newsies, meet Jack and his ragged group of teenage newspaper delivery boys who dared for their rights and defied the powerful publishing giants of New York. With book by Harvey Fierstein, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and music by Alan Menken, Newsies will treat its San Jose audience to one rousing and heart-pounding number after another.
Join the excitement as Newsies plays the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts on May 10 to 12 (Tuesday to Thursday) at 7:30 PM, on May 13 (Friday) at 8 PM, on May 14 (Saturday) at 2 PM and 8 PM, and on May 15 (Sunday) at 1 PM and 6:30 PM. The performance time of Newsies is 140 minutes with one 15-minute intermission.
