Newsies Durham | Durham Performing Arts Center

They’re coming! The newspaper delivery boys from New York are on the road to Durham! Newsies, the 2012 Tony Winner for Best Choreography and Best Musical Score, joins the stellar 2014-2015 season of Broadway Durham. Opening on June 2, 2015, Newsies will take over the Durham Performing Arts Center stage until June 7.

At the turn of the century in the city of New York, a ragtag group of newspaper delivery boys band together to take a stand and fight for what is just and right. Newsies is the exciting new musical that tells the story of Jack Kelly and a group of newsies who challenged the powers-that-be of New York City newspaper business. Newsies is inspired by the hit Disney movie of the same name and the real 1899 newsboy strike in New York. Newsies features Alan Menken’s catchy songs and explodes with jaw-dropping choreography.

Join the newsboys’ righteous fight as Newsies runs at the Durham Performing Arts Center on June 2 to 4 (Tuesday to Thursday) at 7:30 PM, on June 5 (Friday) at 8 PM, on June 6 (Saturday) at 2 PM and 8 PM, and on June 7 (Sunday) at 1 PM and 6:30 PM. Newsies runs for 140 minutes.
