Newsies Philadelphia | Academy of Music

The newsies of New York City are on their way to Philadelphia to open The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts & The Shubert Organization’s 2014-2015 Broadway season. Newsies, the smash hit Disney musical inspired by the true-to-life 1899 Newsboys Strike in New York City, will be at the Academy of Music from October 28, 2014 to November 2, 2014.

Winner in the Best Choreography and Best Score categories in the 2012 Tony Awards, Newsies follows the story of a band of young newspaper delivery boys who stood up and made a stand to fight for what is right. Under the direction of Jeff Calhoun, Newsies features Christopher Gattelli’s award-winning choreography, Alan Menken and Jack Feldman’s acclaimed score, and Harvey Fierstein’s delightful book.

Don’t miss Newsies as it plays the Academy of Music at 7:30 PM on October 28 to 30 (Tuesday to Thursday), at 8 PM on October 31 (Friday), at 2 PM and 8 PM on November 1 (Saturday), and 1 PM and 6:30 PM on November 2 (Sunday). Newsies runs for 2 hours and 20 minutes.
