War Horse Philadelphia | Academy of Music

‘War Horse’, the 2011 Tony Award winner for Best Play comes to Philadelphia this fall to open the city’s Broadway season. It is slated to play the Academy of Music of the Kimmel Center from November 20 to December 2, 2012.

An undeniably touching tale of loyalty, friendship and courage, ‘War Horse’ has played successfully in two continents and has made millions of audiences cry, a testament to the universality of its highly emotional story and message. The heart of this story is the incredible bond between Albert and his horse Joey, who was sold to the cavalry as World War I was about to draw first blood in England. After experiencing the wrath of the bloodbath first-hand, Joey lands in a deserted place where no hope of retrieval lies, not until his young master embarks on a treacherous quest to search him and bring him home. He may be too young to enlist himself in the army and be with Joey throughout the war, but his courage, dedication and attachment to his beloved horse is way too great for his age to contain. The performance running time is 2 hours and 40 minutes with 1 intermission.
